    Welcome gaye munroe,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand you are trying to copy photos from your Frameo digital photo frame to your HP laptop, but Microsoft Photos reports that it cannot reach the device.

Could you provide the exact brand and model number of the digital photo frame? Also, when you open the Frameo settings, do you see any option related to exporting, backup, or external storage?

Please make sure you already tried the Q&A Assist steps. In addition, please try the following:

1, Instead of importing through the Microsoft Photos app, open File Explorer and select This PC.

2, Open the Frameo device that appears there and check whether Windows allows you to browse any folders or photo files.

3, If the folders are accessible, copy a small number of photos manually to a new folder on the laptop to test the transfer.

Please let me know what folders you can see in File Explorer and the exact Frameo frame model.

    Looking forward to your update.

    Hi, let me help you.

Check the frame’s screen (or swipe down from the top of it to see the notification shade) and look for a USB notification like “Charging this device via USB.” Tap it and switch the mode to “File transfer” or “Transferring files (MTP).” If a prompt asks whether to allow access to the device’s data, tap Allow.

Have you tried using another USB data cable? Some cables only carry power, so they charge the device but can’t transfer files.

Export the photos from the Frameo to a microSD card, then insert that card into the HP laptop; Frameo’s USB connection supports copying photos to the frame, not exporting photos from it to Windows.^1^

    Export the photos

    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the laptop.
    2. Insert a microSD card into the Frameo.
      • Many Frameo frames require a card no larger than 32 GB, formatted as FAT32.
    3. On the frame, open: Settings → Manage photos → Export photos
    4. Wait for the export to finish before removing the card. Frameo saves the exported pictures in an export folder on the card.^2^
    5. Insert the microSD card into the HP laptop. If the laptop has no card slot, use a USB microSD card reader.
    6. Open File Explorer → This PC, select the card, and open its export folder.
    7. Copy the photos into the laptop’s Pictures folder or another folder of your choice.

    About the notification

The message in Microsoft Photos refers to a permission notification that would normally appear on the connected device, not in email. Phones can display an Allow, Trust, or file-transfer prompt when Windows requests access.^3^

A Frameo is not using the supported phone-style USB export workflow, so there may be no such notification to approve. Retrying the Microsoft Photos import is therefore unlikely to solve this particular transfer.

If the frame has no microSD slot but has a USB port, flash-drive export depends on the specific frame manufacturer and model; USB storage is not supported by every Frameo-based frame.^4^
