Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Pregrolonged Reward Unavailability, Limited Redemption Options, and Unequal Microsoft Rewards Experience in India
Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Prolonged Reward Unavailability, Limited Redemption Options, and Unequal Microsoft Rewards Experience in India
Dear Microsoft Rewards Team,
I am writing to express my serious disappointment and dissatisfaction with the current state of Microsoft Rewards in India. As an active user who has accumulated approximately 11,000 Microsoft Rewards points, I believe I have every right to expect meaningful, accessible, and reasonably consistent opportunities to redeem the points I have earned.
The situation has become increasingly frustrating. Popular rewards remain unavailable for extended periods, sometimes displaying messages such as “Restocking Soon” without any meaningful update or estimated date. Users continue earning points in good faith, yet when it is time to redeem them, the rewards they have been saving for may simply be inaccessible.
How long are Indian users expected to keep waiting?
Microsoft promotes Rewards as a program in which users can earn points and redeem them for rewards. However, earning points means very little if practical redemption options are persistently unavailable. Users invest their time, use Microsoft's services, and accumulate points with reasonable expectations. Leaving them with limited choices and no clear information undermines the very purpose of the program.
I am particularly concerned about the substantial differences between the rewards available in India and those offered in markets such as the United States. I understand that regional partnerships, commercial agreements, inventory, and local market conditions can influence availability. However, acknowledging these differences does not eliminate Microsoft's responsibility to provide Indian members with a useful and transparent rewards experience.
Why should Indian users repeatedly receive fewer practical choices, prolonged stock shortages, and little clarity about when those choices might return?
I am not asking Microsoft to ignore regional policies or offer rewards that are commercially impossible. I am asking the company to take the concerns of its Indian user base seriously instead of expecting users to accept indefinite uncertainty as normal.
The current situation raises legitimate questions about fairness, transparency, and the value Microsoft places on its Indian Rewards community. While regional differences do not automatically establish discrimination, persistent disparities without adequate communication understandably leave users feeling overlooked.
I also want to make one thing clear: users should not have to resort to changing their region or using a VPN to access a reasonable selection of rewards. Indian members should be able to participate legitimately from India and receive a worthwhile experience within the rules of the program.
I therefore request that Microsoft take the following actions:
Urgently restock existing rewards: Restore popular gift cards and other redemption options currently unavailable in India, wherever commercially and operationally possible.
Expand the Indian rewards catalogue: Introduce a broader selection of useful rewards suited to Indian users, including popular retail, digital, gaming, and Microsoft-related redemption options.
Provide meaningful updates: If a reward is marked “Restocking Soon,” communicate whether restocking is actually planned and provide an estimated timeframe where possible. If a reward has been discontinued, say so clearly instead of leaving users waiting indefinitely.
Review regional fairness: Examine the substantial differences in redemption opportunities and earning experiences across markets, and explain how Microsoft intends to make Rewards more useful for Indian participants.
Escalate this complaint: Ensure that this feedback reaches the team responsible for Microsoft's Rewards catalogue and regional partnerships, rather than receiving only a generic response about regional variation.
Respond with specifics: Please provide a substantive response addressing reward availability in India, the possibility of future restocks, and any plans to improve the catalogue for Indian users.
I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for a rewards program that respects the time and participation of its users. Accumulating 11,000 points should represent genuine progress toward a reward, not an increasingly frustrating exercise in waiting for something that may or may not return.
Microsoft is a major technology company with a significant presence in India. It should be capable of communicating more clearly with its users and addressing persistent problems with a program it actively encourages them to use.
A generic acknowledgement without any meaningful information would not adequately address the concerns raised in this complaint. I expect this feedback to be reviewed by the appropriate team and request a clear, relevant response rather than another indefinite assurance to keep checking the redemption page.
I hope Microsoft recognises that the trust of its Indian users depends not only on the opportunity to earn points, but also on having fair, practical, and transparent opportunities to redeem them.
I look forward to a meaningful response and tangible improvements to Microsoft Rewards in India.
