Hello Microsoft Community / Support Team,

I am encountering issues involving license conflicts and a series of errors while attempting to install Microsoft Office on my Windows laptop.

Chronology of the issue:

  1. I was initially using Microsoft Office 2021, but I uninstalled it due to errors.
  2. I subsequently tried to download and install Office 2019; however, the version that ended up being installed on the system is Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024.
  3. Currently, Excel and Word are unusable, and a pop-up appears stating: "We're sorry, but Excel has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. Would you like us to repair now?" (see attached Screenshot 2).
  4. Whenever I attempt a "Repair" or reinstallation, the process fails with the following error message: "Something went wrong. Error Code: 30015-13 (3221356598)" (see attached Screenshot 1).
  5. Attempts to perform a cleanup via CMD (using ospp.vbs) failed because the system could not locate the corresponding Office directory.

I have attached two screenshots showing these errors. Could you please provide guidance on how to completely remove any remaining registry entries and conflicting licenses?

Thank you for your assistance!

    Dear Khoirul Siregar,

Based on the symptoms you described, this appears to be a conflict between multiple Office installations or leftover Office licensing components.

The error 30015-13 (3221356598) commonly occurs when Office installation files, registry entries, services, or licensing information from a previous version remain on the computer and interfere with a new installation.

    I recommend the following steps:

1/ Completely remove all Office products

Use the Microsoft Get Help tool to completely remove all existing Office installations from the device.

Once downloaded, run Get Help file

Once it is done > restart the PC

2/ Verify that no Office versions remain

Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps and ensure that entries such as:

    Microsoft Office 2021

    Office 2019

    Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024

    Microsoft 365 Apps

    have been removed.

3/ Check for remaining licensing information

Open an elevated Command Prompt and run:

wmic product where "name like '%%Office%%'" get name

If any Office products are still listed, additional cleanup may be required.

4/ Install only the version you are licensed for:

Installing a different edition (for example, LTSC Professional Plus 2024 when licensed for Office 2019 or Office 2021) can lead to activation and application startup issues.

If Excel/Word still show "has run into an error"

5/ Try to open office in Safe mode

    Press Windows + R

    then Type:

    excel /safe

If they open normally in Safe Mode, the issue may be caused by an add-in rather than the Office installation itself.

Please note that Office 2019 reached end of support on October 14, 2025. While the applications will continue to run, Microsoft no longer provides security updates, bug fixes, or technical support for Office 2019.

I hope it helps, feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.
