    Hi Michael,

Thank you for sharing your situation.

This may happen if the contacts are saved locally on your Android device or under another account, such as Google or Samsung, rather than directly in your Microsoft 365 account.

To help identify the source of the issue, here are some steps you can try:

    1. Sign in to Outlook on the web using the same Microsoft 365 account configured on both devices.
    2. Open People and check whether the affected contacts contain their complete information.
    3. On your Android device, open one of the affected contacts and check which account it is saved under, such as Microsoft 365, Exchange, Google, Samsung, or Device.
    4. In the Outlook app on Android, go to Settings, select your Microsoft 365 account, and make sure Sync Contacts is enabled.
    5. On Windows, confirm that Outlook is signed in with the same Microsoft 365 account and allow some time for the contacts to synchronize.

If the complete contact details do not appear in Outlook on the web, they may currently be stored only on the phone or under a different account. In that case, you may need to export the contacts from their current location and import them into your Microsoft 365 account.

If the details are correct in Outlook on the web but are still missing in Outlook for Windows, let me know which Outlook version you are using, such as New Outlook or Classic Outlook. A screenshot of how one affected contact appears on Windows would also be helpful. Please remove or hide any sensitive information before sharing it.

I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to share them in the comment below. I'm very happy to help.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Check the People page in Outlook on the web first; it will show whether the complete contact records are stored in the Microsoft 365 mailbox or only on the Android device.

    1. Check the mailbox copy

    1. Sign in to Outlook on the web with the same Microsoft 365 work account used on Android and Windows.
    2. Select People → Your contacts.
    3. Select one affected contact and inspect its phone number, address, and other fields. Outlook on the web displays the saved mailbox contacts and their full profile cards.^1^

Then follow the matching result below.

If the web contact contains all the information

The mailbox data is intact, so the Windows Outlook client is not displaying or synchronizing it correctly.

    1. In Windows Outlook, open People and select the contact.
    2. Open the complete contact card rather than relying on the list, which may show only names or limited fields.
    3. If using new Outlook, try another view under People, then remove and re-add the Microsoft 365 account to force a fresh synchronization:
      • Settings → Accounts → Email accounts
      • Select the account → Manage → remove it.
      • Add the same account again and allow synchronization to finish.

Removing and re-adding the account is the recommended next step when contacts are complete on the web but missing or incomplete in new Outlook.^2^

If the web contact has only a name or is absent

Determine where the complete record appears on Android:

    • Inside Outlook: Open Outlook → Search → Contacts → select the person.
    • Only inside Android’s Contacts app: The record may be device-local, associated with Google, or stored under another account rather than in the Microsoft 365 mailbox.

For a Microsoft 365 account, enable contact synchronization:

    1. In Android, open Settings → Apps → Outlook → Permissions.
    2. Allow Contacts and account access.
    3. Open Outlook → profile picture → Settings → select the Microsoft 365 account → enable Sync Contacts.
    4. Keep Outlook open while synchronization starts, then check the contact again in Outlook on the web.

Microsoft 365 accounts support two-way synchronization between Outlook and Android contacts when Sync Contacts is enabled.^3^ Permissions are required before Outlook can synchronize with Android’s Contacts app.^4^

If the account is identified as IMAP or POP, it cannot synchronize contacts—those protocols synchronize email only. The account must be added as a Microsoft 365/Exchange account; for a managed business account, contact the Microsoft 365 administrator if that option is unavailable.^5^

    If synchronization is blocked

For a company-managed Android device, an Intune app-protection policy can disable Save Contacts/Sync Contacts. Ask the Microsoft 365 administrator to check whether synchronization with native apps is blocked for Outlook.^6^
