Changing between multiple Teams Free accounts within the app or browser
Select your profile picture in Teams, sign in with the exact account that belongs to or was invited into the organization, and then select that organization from the account switcher.^1^
If you joined as a guest
The invitation must be accepted before the organization becomes available:
- Open the invitation email sent to the invited email address.
- Select Open Microsoft Teams.
- On the sign-in page, use that exact invited account.
- Select Accept when asked to grant the organization access to your profile.
- Return to Teams, open the account/organization menu, and select the invited organization.^2^
If the original invitation is unavailable or was already accepted but the organization remains absent, ask the team owner or organization administrator to verify your guest membership and resend the invitation if necessary.
Verify whether the account has organization access
For a work or school account:
- Open the My Account portal.
- Sign in with the same account used in Teams.
- Select Organizations.
- Check whether the required organization appears under Home organization or Other organizations.^3^
Do not select Leave organization while troubleshooting; leaving removes access and requires the organization to invite you again.
- Organization is listed: Return to Teams, select the profile picture, and choose that account or organization.
- Organization is not listed: The organization’s administrator or team owner must confirm that the correct email address has membership or guest access.
- Account is listed but sign-in is blocked: Record the complete error message and status code. Microsoft notes that many work or school sign-in failures require the organization’s IT administrator to resolve account, domain, authentication, or access-policy issues.^4^
Get live support
For Microsoft Teams Free/personal, use Microsoft’s Contact support option and request a support agent. Microsoft lists this as the support route for Teams personal subscriptions.^5^
For a work or school organization, contact that organization’s IT administrator first. They can verify whether Teams is enabled for the account, whether the required license is assigned, and whether organizational access settings are blocking sign-in.^6^
When contacting support or the administrator, provide:
- Whether this is Teams Free, work, school, or guest access.
- The affected email address domain, but not the full address in a public post.
- Device and platform: Windows, macOS, Android, iPhone, or web.
- The full error text and status code.
- Whether the organization appears in the My Account portal.
