    Hi ron zack,

I understand why this would be confusing on a new computer. Based on the age displayed on the account and the grayed-out profile options, this may not be a normal app-removal issue. Your Microsoft account appears to have been classified as a child account because of the incorrect date of birth.

Before proceeding, please edit your public post and remove the email address you included to protect your privacy.

Microsoft provides a separate process for this situation. Please open the official guide below and follow the section titled “I’m an adult, but Microsoft thinks I’m a child”: How to change a birth date on a Microsoft account

Because the profile fields are grayed out, you may need to complete the consent process using a separate adult personal Microsoft account. That adult account can then access the managed account information and correct the date of birth.

After the birth date has been corrected, restart the computer and check the Family Safety status again at: Manage your Microsoft family group

If you cannot identify the adult account that manages the consent, or the information remains locked after following the official process, please contact Microsoft Support for account-specific assistance: Contact Microsoft Support

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Community contributors cannot access the account, change its date of birth, or remove the restrictions directly. Thank you so much for your understanding.

If the account is showing the wrong age, first correct the birth date on the Microsoft account. Microsoft’s Family Safety troubleshooting states that when an adult is treated as a child, the birth date must be changed using the Microsoft account birth date process for adults who are incorrectly identified as children.

Then check whether the account is in a Microsoft family group:

    1. Sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/family.
    2. If no family members appear, the account is not in a family group.
    3. If a family is listed, the account was previously added to one.

If the account is not part of a family group but Family Safety is still being enforced on the PC, run the Family Safety refresh task on that computer:

    1. Press Windows + R.
    2. Type cmd and select OK.
    3. Run:
         schtasks /run /tn "Microsoft\Windows\Shell\FamilySafetyRefreshTask"

    4. Restart the computer.

This must be done on each affected device.

If the account is part of a family group:

    • If the account has an Organizer role, the same refresh task above can be used, then restart the PC.
    • If the account has a Member role, only the family organizer can turn off the safety settings for that account.
    • If removal from the family group is needed, sign in at https://account.microsoft.com/family/, select the menu next to the name, and choose Leave family group. If that option is not available, only an organizer can remove the account.

Important: leaving or being removed from a family group can remove access to shared products and services such as Microsoft 365 Family.
