Hi,

According to the note on top of this article by the Microsoft Access team, it is a known issue in the initial release of version 2610 and a fix is planned for the next update.

Hi,

Since last night there's the new build 20527.20112 available in the Current Channel that should contain a fix for this problem.

If you don't get it automatically then you can go to File - Account - Update Options - Update Now.

    Good day COW,

Just to gently clarify before going any further, this forum is separate from Microsoft Support. I don’t have the ability to access or investigate individual accounts or escalate the issue directly Microsoft Support because this is a user‑to‑user support forum.

I also noticed that you previously reported this same issue in an earlier thread, and I found several community discussions referencing similar behavior since September 2026. Some users later reported that the issue was resolved after updating to Build 16.0.20430.20144. For reference: error 2004 - Microsoft Q&A

However, the latest update available is version 16.0.20527.20088, released on October 21, and you are the first person I have seen report this issue occurring again.

In this situation, I recommend reaching out to your IT administrator to create a support ticket via Microsoft 365 Admin Center > Support > Help & Support. In case you do not know who is your IT admin, kindly refer to this article: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

    • Turn off the "Support Assistant" feature.
    • Use the keyword "Support" to quickly bypass automated suggestions > Select Contact Support.

    User's image

    • In the ticket description, please clearly describe the issue, including any error messages or codes and the steps you’ve already tried. They can also attach screenshots or screen recordings.
    • Additionally, sharing their preferred contact times may help the support team handle the case more efficiently.

A technical support engineer can perform a remote session to investigate the situation, review the environment, collect diagnostic data, and determine whether this behavior is related to the current build. If the issue requires further attention, they can escalate it to a specialized team for deeper analysis.

Also, as many members of the community may not yet be aware of this behavior. Sharing or highlighting this response can help bring greater visibility to the issue, making it easier for others who are experiencing similar challenges to find relevant information and support.

I wish I could help more directly, but as a fellow user in this community, providing these steps is the best support I can offer. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
