Blocked registration of a new account

I wanted to create a new account on my personal PC, as a login is required for the Teams app. I either misunderstood the "prove you're not a robot" verification (the "press and hold" step), or it didn't work correctly on my PC. As a result, my email address is now blocked from creating an account. I have an OEM license on my PC and haven't needed a Microsoft account until now. What should I do? I don't want to create an email address in a Microsoft domain just for this purpose. What steps should I take next?

    Hello Kratochvil David,

You do need a Microsoft account to use Teams, but you can create it using your existing email address. You do not need to create a new Outlook.com or Hotmail address.

The failed verification may have triggered a temporary registration block. Stop retrying for now, then try again later using:

    • A phone or another device
    • Mobile data or another network
    • No VPN, proxy, ad blocker, or privacy extension

Microsoft recommends trying another device or sign-up method when account creation fails: How to create a new Microsoft account

Enter your existing email address during registration. Microsoft will send a verification message to that address. Your Windows OEM licence is unrelated to this registration issue.

I don't think you need to create an Outlook or Hotmail account. If the verification process has blocked the sign-up, as I understand it, you can try again using a different browser or another PC. You can also try clearing your browser cache and then try again
