Additional features, settings, or issues not covered by specific Microsoft Teams Free categories
If Teams comes back after reboot and does not appear in Apps, it is likely installed as an Appx package or through the machine-wide installer.
Try these removal methods on Windows:
- Remove the new Teams app for the current user in PowerShell:
Get-AppxPackage *MSTeams* | Remove-AppxPackage - If the app is present for all users, run PowerShell as administrator and remove it for all users:
Get-AppxPackage *MSTeams* -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage -AllUsers - If Teams was installed machine-wide, uninstall it with:
teamsbootstrapper.exe -x -m - If this is classic Teams installed with the Teams Machine-Wide Installer, admins should uninstall the Teams Machine-Wide Installer by using existing deployment tools. Important: if new Teams is not already deployed machine-wide, removing the machine-wide installer can leave users without a Teams client.
- If the issue is specifically the Windows 11 Chat/Teams app, admins can also remove the installed app with:
remove-appxpackage -package "MicrosoftTeams_21302.202.1065.6968_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe"
If Teams is being reinstalled by device management, that usually requires removing the managed work profile or changing the organization’s app deployment policy.
