Recover any deleted documents first, and then reinstall Microsoft 365 using the Microsoft account connected to your subscription.

    1. Recover your Excel and other document files

Uninstalling Microsoft 365 normally removes the applications, not documents saved elsewhere. Check these locations before reinstalling:

    1. Open the Windows Recycle Bin.
    2. Look for your .xlsx, .docx, .pptx, or other files.
    3. Select the files, right-click, and choose Restore. They will return to their original folders.^1^

If the files were stored in OneDrive:

    1. Open OneDrive and sign in with the Microsoft account previously used on the laptop.
    2. Use Search everything to search by filename or terms such as xlsx.
    3. Select Recycle bin on the left.
    4. Select the missing files and choose Restore.^2^
    5. If nothing appears, check any other Microsoft account that may have been used.

If many OneDrive files were deleted and you have a Microsoft 365 subscription, you can restore the entire OneDrive to an earlier point:

    1. On the OneDrive website, select Settings.
    2. Select Restore your OneDrive.
    3. Choose a date before the deletion.
    4. Review the listed activity and start the restore.^3^

Caution: An entire-OneDrive restore can move files created after the selected restore point into the OneDrive Recycle Bin.

Also search the laptop directly: open File Explorer, select This PC, and search for *.xlsx, *.docx, and *.pptx.

    2. Reinstall Microsoft 365

    1. Go to Microsoft 365 Apps.
    2. Sign in with the same Microsoft account used to purchase or activate the subscription.
    3. Select Apps and then Install apps.
    4. Select Microsoft 365 apps.
    5. Run the downloaded installer:
      • Microsoft Edge: Run
      • Chrome: Setup
      • Firefox: Save File, then open it
    6. If Windows asks whether the installer can make changes, select Yes.
    7. Wait until “You’re all set! Office is installed now” appears, and then select Close.^4^

    3. Activate Excel and the other apps

    1. Select Start and type Excel.
    2. Open Excel and accept the license agreement.
    3. If prompted, sign in using the same Microsoft account connected to the subscription.

If Install apps is not displayed, verify that the correct account is signed in and that the Microsoft 365 subscription appears under that account’s Subscriptions page.^5^

Reinstalling Microsoft 365 restores Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and the other licensed applications, but it does not itself restore deleted documents; those must be recovered from the Recycle Bin, OneDrive, another account, or another backup.

    1

    Open the Settings App.

Go to Apps - Installed Apps.

Scroll down that list, do you not find Microsoft 365 listed there?

If not, what method was used to delete Microsoft 365 from your PC?

In the meantime, if you have a Microsoft 365 subscription, when you first activated Office that licence should have become associated to your Microsoft Account as a digital licence online and it is from there that you can re-install Office without the need for a product key:

As Dave wrote, the first step is to check if you see Microsoft 365 listed in Installed Apps in Windows Settings.

If Office / Microsoft 365 is actually there, I would recommend that you search for the individual Office apps from the Windows Start menu. For example, you can open the Start menu and type excel. If you see the app in the list of search results, try clicking to start it. Assuming that it works, you can pin a shortcut to the Start menu and/or taskbar. Repeat with the other Office apps.
