I purchased a one time license of Microsoft Office 2024 on 9/24/2026 and it has been working fine until today. Now I'm getting error code: 0x4004F00C and telling me that this copy of Microsoft office in not activated.

    1

    Open Word.

At the top right of Word, log out of Office.

Restart (not shut down) your PC, then log back into Office, is your licence then recognized correctly.

    2

If not, log into your Microsoft account on this link, is your Office licence listed correctly there?

Verify that Office 2024 appears in the Microsoft account used for the purchase, then sign in to Office with that same account; error 0x4004F00C is currently handled as an activation or “Unlicensed Product” problem, not as a listed Office 2024-wide incident.^1^

    1. Confirm the license and reactivate

    1. Close all Office applications.
    2. Open Services & subscriptions at https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the Microsoft account used on September 24.
    3. Look for the exact product—such as Office Home 2024 or Office Home & Business 2024.
    4. If it is listed:
      • Open Word.
      • Select File → Account.
      • Sign out of any different account, then sign in with the account showing Office 2024.
      • If the Activation Wizard appears, complete its prompts. A one-time-purchase license activates through the Microsoft account associated with the purchase.^2^
    5. Close and reopen Word, then check File → Account → Product Information for Product Activated.

The current Microsoft list of recent Office issues does not identify 0x4004F00C as an active, broad Office 2024 incident.^3^

    2. If Office 2024 is listed but still will not activate

    On Windows 10 or 11:

    1. Open Control Panel → Programs → Programs and Features.
    2. Search the installed-program list for Office.
    3. If both Microsoft 365 and Office 2024—or another Office edition—are installed, uninstall the edition you do not own or use. Multiple Office installations can conflict with activation.^1^
    4. Restart Windows and open Word.
    5. If there is only one installation, select it in Programs and Features → Change → Online Repair.
    6. After repair, open Word and sign in again with the purchasing account.

Also verify Settings → Time & language → Date & time has the correct date, time zone, and automatic time enabled. Incorrect system time can prevent license verification.^1^

If this is a Mac, do not use the Windows repair procedure. Confirm the purchasing account first; if reinstallation becomes necessary, remove the Office applications from Finder → Applications, then reinstall Office 2024 using Microsoft’s Mac installer procedure.^4^

    3. If Office 2024 is absent from the account

    • Try any other personal Microsoft account that might have been used for the purchase.
    • If you received a new, unused retail product key, redeem it once at https://setup.office.com/. Redemption associates the product with the Microsoft account.^2^
    • If the key was already redeemed, do not purchase another license yet. Contact the seller or Microsoft Support with the order confirmation and ask them to verify which account owns the license.
    • If the product shown under File → Account is Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024, that is a volume-licensed organizational edition rather than the normal consumer one-time-purchase edition. If it was sold by an independent key retailer for personal use, request a refund or replacement from that retailer.^5^

A one-time Office purchase is normally licensed for one PC or Mac, so if the license was moved to another computer, Microsoft Support may need to resolve the existing device association.^6^
