    Hello Thomas George,

Has the answer provided by AI able to help you solve this issue?

I would like to add an additional step; you can try unlinking and reconnecting OneDrive:

    1. Select the OneDrive cloud icon in the taskbar.
    2. Select Help & Settings > Settings > Account.
    3. Select Unlink this PC, then sign in again with the Microsoft account that owns the folder.
    4. When prompted that the OneDrive folder already exists, select Use this folder.
    5. After OneDrive finishes reconnecting, try Manage access again from File Explorer.

Unlinking does not delete files stored in OneDrive, but any pending changes should be allowed to finish syncing first.

Also, could you confirm whether the error affects every folder or only this particular folder? If possible, create a new test folder, share it, and check whether its access can be managed. This will help determine whether the problem is with the OneDrive connection or the original folder’s sharing configuration.

Please also let me know the result and whether this is a personal or work/school OneDrive account. I'll be happy to help

Manage the folder’s permissions on OneDrive.com while the File Explorer command is failing, using the personal Microsoft account that owns the folder.

Manage access in OneDrive on the web

    1. Sign in to OneDrive.com with the personal Microsoft account that owns the shared folder.
    2. Select Shared in the left pane and locate the folder. If it is your own folder, you can also locate it under My files.
    3. Select only that folder.
    4. Select Information in the upper-right corner to open the Details pane.
    5. Under Has Access, select Manage access.
    6. Make the required change:
      • Remove a sharing link by selecting the X beside it, then Remove link.
      • Open the link’s dropdown to change its password or expiration date.
      • To replace an edit link with a view-only link, or vice versa, delete the existing link and create a new one with the required permission; an existing sharing link cannot be converted between edit and view. ^1^

Only the folder owner can stop or change its sharing permissions. If this folder was merely shared with your account, the owner must make the change. ^2^

If the web method works but File Explorer still fails

That isolates the problem to the Windows OneDrive integration rather than the folder’s cloud permissions. Reset the OneDrive sync app:

    1. Press Windows+R.
    2. Run:
    %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

    1. If Windows cannot find it, try:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

    1. If that path is also unavailable, try:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

    1. Open Start, search for OneDrive, and start the desktop app.
    2. After synchronization completes, right-click the folder in File Explorer and try Share again.

A reset does not delete cloud files, but it resets OneDrive settings, disconnects sync connections, and performs a full synchronization. Any previously selected folder-sync choices may need to be configured again. ^3^

If OneDrive.com also produces the error

A correlation ID by itself does not identify the error or its cause. Contact Microsoft Support for the personal account and provide:

    • The correlation ID
    • The date and exact time the failure occurred, including time zone
    • The complete error text or a redacted screenshot
    • Whether the failure occurs on OneDrive.com as well as File Explorer
    • The action attempted under Manage access

The personal-account support section provides Contact Microsoft Support → Get Help for technical issues. ^2^
