I need access to my Publisher App... Says it's unlicensed and in view mode only.

Tried to log in today and work on some files in Publisher I need to an event coming up this weekend and to my surprise, I can only view all my files, and it says it's in view mode only... When I try to log in, I keep getting a notice that says, "Sorry, something went wrong" and to contact Microsoft Support. But that doesn't seem to exist any longer?

How do I fix this and get access back into the Publisher App that I've been using for years and years... I understand it's retiring soon, but I should still be able to use it as needed!!!

    Dear claudio,

I'm sorry to hear about this, especially with your event coming up this weekend. As a forum moderator, I am not able to restore Publisher on your subscription directly. My role here is limited to general guidance you can apply from your side. What you are seeing is expected rather than an activation error. Microsoft Publisher reached end of life in October 2026, and Microsoft 365 subscribers lose access to it on or shortly after October 1, 2026, as the removal update rolls out. Because of this, signing in again, reinstalling or contacting Microsoft Support will not bring back editing access through a Microsoft 365 subscription.

To get your event files ready, I suggest trying the following:

    1. If Publisher still lets you open the file, try File > Save As, choose PDF as the file type and save it.
    2. Open Word, go to File > Open, select the PDF and select OK. The file will open as an editable Word document. The layout may shift a little, especially if it has many graphics, so please review it before printing.
    3. If you or someone you know has a one‑time purchase version such as Publisher 2021, it can still open and edit your files, even though it no longer receives support.

For new materials, Word and PowerPoint have templates for flyers, programs, posters and similar items. You can also find many templates on Microsoft Create.

For reference: Microsoft Publisher will no longer be supported after October 2026 | Microsoft Support

I hope this helps you get your files ready in time. Let me know if you need anything else.
