Windows protected print mode

I haven't set up Protected Print Mode, but since the latest software update I can't see my scanner. My printer is still working, but it isn't Mopia and therefore under Protected Print Mode, I wouldn't be able to see it. However, when I go to Turn Off Protected Print Mode, the only option is to Set Up. Implying that Protected Print Mode isn't Set Up.

Has anyone else experienced this problem ?

Do I need to go out and buy a new Printer ?

Hi jay dee,

Since Windows Protected Print Mode shows Set up, it appears to be disabled. As the printer works but the scanner is missing, please check whether Windows can rediscover the scanner:

  1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  2. Select Add device next to Add a printer or scanner.
  3. If your multifunction printer is already listed, select it and check whether Scanner settings appears.

If it remains missing, check the manufacturer's website for updated scanning software or a scanner driver for your exact model and Windows version.

I hope this points you toward restoring the scanning function while keeping your existing device.

    Hi,

Could you tell me the printer model?

Is it connected via USB or network?

Are you unable to install the printer (including the scanner) while "protected print mode" is enabled?

You can disable protected print mode by going to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Windows protected print mode.

You can turn it off in order to reconfigure the printer.

    Thanks
