Contact Microsoft billing support with the dates, amounts, and payment details for both monthly charges so an agent can trace the subscriptions and review the duplicate payments for refunds.

    Contact the billing team

    1. Open Get Help from the Windows Start menu, or visit: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus
    2. Enter Billing, then select Contact Support.
    3. Choose Microsoft 365 → Manage my subscription.
    4. Select the available chat option and request an investigation of repeated duplicate charges. This route is specifically recommended for Microsoft 365 subscriptions purchased directly from Microsoft.^1^
    5. Give the agent:
      • Dates and amounts of both charges for each month.
      • The payment method’s last four digits—never post the full card number here.
      • Any Microsoft order numbers shown for the charges.
      • The email addresses of all Microsoft accounts that might use that payment method.

Support availability and contact methods can vary. If chat is unavailable, return during local support hours and select Contact Support again.

Trace the second charge before the support session

    1. Sign in to your Microsoft account’s Order history and compare it with your bank statements for the affected months.
    2. If only one monthly charge appears in Order history, open Payment options and select Investigate. Microsoft says this can locate another Microsoft account—such as a family member’s account—using the same card.^2^
    3. Repeat the check for every Microsoft account you may have used.

Closely spaced payments are not always duplicates: a previously unsuccessful payment can be collected near the next scheduled payment. Comparing several months of order history with the bank statement distinguishes that situation from two active subscriptions.^2^

    Refund or cancellation

If two Microsoft 365 Personal subscriptions appear under your accounts:

    1. Sign in with the account containing the unwanted subscription.
    2. Go to Services & subscriptions.
    3. Select that subscription → Manage → Cancel.
    4. The cancellation process displays whether it qualifies for an automatic refund.

Not every cancellation produces a refund. Microsoft’s published policy says eligibility is determined during cancellation; it also describes refund windows and region-dependent prorated refunds.[^3^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Microsoft subscription refund policy | Microsoft Support") For several months of duplicate charges, ask billing support to review every affected transaction rather than relying only on the automated cancellation result.

If Microsoft cannot find the charge

    • Purchased through Apple, Google Play, Best Buy, or another retailer: request cancellation or a refund from that seller; Microsoft’s direct refund process applies to subscriptions bought from Microsoft.[^3^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Microsoft subscription refund policy | Microsoft Support")
    • Charge appears in no Microsoft account and is unauthorized: contact the bank or payment provider to stop further charges and report that the payment information may be compromised. Merely disputing one transaction may not prevent another charge.^4^

Do not post bank statements, card numbers, order numbers, or account addresses publicly.
