Unable to open tables within an MSAccess Database

I created an MSAccess database that contains four tables in it. While I can open the database, and see the tables I created and have been using, I am suddenly unable to open any of the tables.

Why is this happening?

What steps can I take to open these tables?

    Hi,

In the Access title bar I see that the database is saved on Onedrive, which could be the reason for the problem. Onedrive's caching mechanisms are not meant or ideal for Access and can cause damages and unexpected locks, especially if there is more than 1 user or workstation involved.

If you have a local drive then try to copy the database file from Onedrive to it and check if you can open the tables locally.

Thank you for your assistance. It is very much appreciated.

    • I can open the MSAccess DB and view a list of the tables within the database. The database is very simple one (no linked fields, tables, pick lists, etc.)
    • However, when I click on a table to open it, nothing happens. Note: since submitting my request & powering down & back up I was able to open the Notes table once.
    • This is the first time that I have had this issue. The database and the tables within it have always opened without any problem, (prior to the last MS update)
    • There is no system generated error message
    • I have tried compact and repair
    • I have tried importing the tables into a new database
    • I have shut down my computer & restarted
    • File Path: [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]
    • I was able to export the table data to MSExcel

    Hi Terri,

To better understand the issue and provide the most accurate guidance, could you please share a bit more information?

    1. What happens when you try to open a table? Do you receive any error message? If so, please provide the exact wording or a screenshot of the error.
    2. Can you open the tables in Design View? Please right-click one of the tables and select Design View, then let us know whether it opens successfully.
    3. Are the tables local tables or linked tables? Also, are you able to open other database objects such as forms, queries, reports, or macros, or is the issue affecting those as well?

Any additional details about when the issue started or any recent changes to the database environment would also be helpful.

If possible, please include screenshots, as they can greatly assist with the investigation.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. I look forward to your reply and will be happy to assist further. Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to respond to this post.
