How can I keep prices updated at Excel

Hi everyone, I would like to create simple sheet to track cryptocurrency prices in Turkish lira (TL/TRY). I usually check prices on Paribu, but I’m unsure how to bring that data into Excel and refresh it.

Would Power Query’s “From Web” option work for this or would I need an API? I only need occasional updates not a live trading feed.

Please try this API endpoint instead: https://api.paribu.com/market/ticker

You can also check Paribu's official API documentation here: https://docs.paribu.com/api

In Excel, go to Data >> Get Data >> From Web and enter the new URL.

Hi, Paribu may not display its prices as a table Excel can recognize.

Try Excel >> Data >> Get Data >> From Web, then enter:

    https://www.paribu.com/ticker

Select Transform Data >> To Table, expand the Value column, and select last for the latest price. Then click Close & Load.

You can update prices using Data >> Refresh All.

Yes. Power Query’s From Web option is designed for importing data from a website into Excel, and the imported data connection can be refreshed later to pull updated values.

    A practical approach is:

    1. In Excel, use Data > Get Data > From Web.
    2. Enter the website address that contains the cryptocurrency prices.
    3. Use the web connector’s table detection tools to select the data you want.
    4. Load the result into the workbook.
    5. Refresh it when needed:
      • Data > Refresh All to refresh all workbook data
      • Alt + F5 to refresh selected data
      • Ctrl + Alt + F5 to refresh the workbook

If the website data is available in a table that Power Query can detect, From Web can be enough for occasional updates. If the site does not expose the data in a way the web connector can import cleanly, then an API would be the more reliable option.

For occasional updates, Excel also supports automatic refresh options for external data connections:

    • Refresh when the workbook opens
    • Refresh every set number of minutes

    To configure that:

    1. Select a cell in the external data range.
    2. Go to Data > Queries & Connections > Connections.
    3. Right-click the query and select Properties.
    4. On Usage, enable Refresh data when opening the file and/or Refresh every.

If the query is edited in Power Query Editor, Home > Refresh Preview updates the preview and local cache, but refreshing from the worksheet updates the worksheet query result.
