Since the limit has remained through three displayed reset times, verify the signed-in account in a private browser session and, if the same limit appears there, report it from Copilot as a persistent account-side quota problem.
1. Isolate the app from the account
- Open an InPrivate/Incognito browser window.
- Go to Copilot on the web and sign in with the same personal account used in the Windows app.
- If using a Google or Apple identity, select Continue with Google or Continue with Apple rather than entering it as a different Microsoft account.
- Submit one simple text prompt.
Microsoft specifically recommends a private browsing session when checking personal accounts in the updated Copilot experience. Personal and work/school accounts remain separate, so also confirm the account type shown in Copilot’s account switcher.^1^
Interpret the result as follows:
- Web works, Windows app remains blocked: this indicates an app/session-specific problem. Sign out of the Windows app, close it completely, reopen it, and sign back in with the same account.
- Both web and app show the limit: this points to the quota state associated with the account or Copilot service rather than the PC’s local state. Proceed to reporting below.
- A different account works: the limit is specific to the original account, not the computer.
2. Check the subscription and usage status
For a Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, Premium, or Pro subscription:
- Open your Microsoft account.
- Select Services & subscriptions.
- Confirm that the expected subscription is active and inspect the displayed AI-credit or limit status.
Copilot limits differ by feature, entry point, subscription plan, and system conditions; they can also change over time. Microsoft does not document one universal daily reset schedule that applies to every Copilot feature. AI benefits are available only to the subscription owner—not other members sharing a Family subscription.^2^
Free Copilot access is also subject to available capacity and limits. A subscription provides higher limits, but it does not make every feature unlimited.^3^
3. Report the stuck limit
If the same account remains blocked on both the web and Windows app:
- In Copilot, select … in the upper-right corner.
- Select Send feedback.
- Select Report a problem.
- Include:
- The exact “check back at 2:00 AM” message.
- That it persisted through three reset cycles.
- Date, time, and time zone of the latest test.
- Whether it occurred in both the Windows app and a private browser session.
- Your Windows version and a screenshot.
- Whether the affected action was ordinary chat, image generation, voice, file upload, or another feature.
This is Microsoft’s documented escalation path for persistent issues in the personal Copilot app.^1^
Do not repeatedly retry the limited feature while it is blocked. Usage thresholds can apply to particular features, and repeated attempts will not manually reset an account-side quota.^4^
