Windows Update page is completely blank on my Windows 10 PC
Hello Microsoft Support,
My Windows Update page is completely blank. When I open Settings and go to Windows Update, no update information or options appear.
I want to reset the Windows Update components and repair Windows Update so I can check for updates and update my PC successfully.
I have already tried some troubleshooting steps, but the problem remains. Please provide instructions to fix the blank Windows Update screen and help me update Windows safely without losing my personal files.
Thank you.

- Check basic conditions that can block updates.
- Disconnect external storage devices, docks, and other unnecessary hardware.
- Verify Start > Settings > Time & language > Date & time and enable Set time automatically. If needed, select Sync now.
- Make sure there is enough free space: at least 16 GB for 32-bit Windows or 20 GB for 64-bit Windows.

- Repair system files if the page is still blank or updates still fail.
- In the taskbar search box, type command prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth - After it completes successfully, run:
sfc /scannow - Wait for the scan to reach 100%, close Command Prompt, and try Windows Update again.
- If Windows Update options are missing or the page stays broken in Settings, use the built-in recovery path.
- Open Settings > System > Recovery.
- In Fix Problems with Windows Updates, select Install Now and let it complete.
- If the problem still is not resolved, use a repair install / in-place reinstall path that keeps personal files, apps, and settings.
- A support article lists Reinstall Windows as a recovery option that reinstalls the current version without affecting files, apps, or settings.
- For Windows 10, the troubleshooting guidance also points to the software download page and notes to carefully read the notes before using the tool.
After each repair step, run Windows Update again: Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates. If updates install, restart using Update and restart or Update and shut down.
