In Windows 11, the Start menu includes a Recommendations section as part of its fixed structure, but it can be reduced.

    Try this:

    1. Open Settings > Personalization > Start.
    2. Set Layout to More pins.
    3. Turn off:
      • Show recently added apps
      • Show most used apps
      • Show recommendations for tips, shortcuts, new apps

This gives more space to pinned apps and reduces the Recommended area, but the context does not provide a supported way to fully restore an older Start menu screen.

If you mean the Recommended section in the Start menu, open Settings >> Personalization >> Start and look for the Recommended switch (called Recent on some newer versions). Turn it off if available. This hides that section but does not restore the previous Start menu design.
