Since the printer worked until yesterday and HP already confirmed the printer itself is connected, focus on removing the current Windows printer entry and forcing a clean reinstall.
- Power cycle the printer.
- Turn the printer off.
- Unplug it for 30 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
- Confirm the laptop and printer are on the same Wi‑Fi network.
- If there are multiple wireless routers, extenders, or separate SSIDs, make sure both devices are connected to the same network.
- On the printer, run its wireless connectivity test if that option is available.
- Remove the existing printer from Windows 11.
- Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the HP Envy Inspire 7258e printer.
- Select Remove and confirm with Yes.
- Reinstall the printer.
- In Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Make sure the printer is on and connected.
- Select Add device or Refresh.
- If the printer appears, select Add device.
- If it does not appear, select Add manually.
- If automatic install still fails, reinstall it manually.
- After selecting Add manually, choose the option that best matches the setup.
- If connecting the printer directly by USB for setup, choose Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.
- Select the correct port, then Next.
- If prompted for a driver:
- Select Windows Update, or
- Select Have Disk if printer software came with the device.
- Choose the printer manufacturer and model, then finish setup.
- Print a test page at the end to confirm it works.
- If Windows still cannot install the driver, install a compatible driver from the printer manufacturer.
- Download the driver that matches Windows 11 and the laptop system type.
- Install it, then restart the laptop.
- After restart, return to Printers & scanners and add the printer again.
- If the problem started right after a driver update, try rolling back the printer driver.
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Printers or Print queues.
- Right-click the printer and select Properties.
- On the Driver tab, select Roll Back Driver if available.
- Restart the laptop.
- If needed, verify the printer is not in an error state.
- In Printers & scanners, if the status shows Printer in error state, check for low paper, low ink, an open cover, or a paper jam.
