Hi,

I am unable to see the “Hide attendee names” toggle in Meeting options for a Teams webinar.

Environment / What I’ve already checked:

  • Teams Premium license is assigned (confirmed in Microsoft 365 admin center under Apps → Microsoft Teams Premium)
  • Meeting policy assigned: Global (no custom policy)
  • I set the policy using PowerShell:

PowerShell

Set-CsTeamsMeetingPolicy -Identity Global -AttendeeIdentityMasking Enabled
  • Verified with:

PowerShell

Get-CsTeamsMeetingPolicy -Identity Global | Select-Object Identity, AttendeeIdentityMasking

Result: Enabled

  • Previously the value was DisabledUserOverride
  • Tested with a brand-new webinar
  • Checked both Teams desktop app and Teams web app (https://teams.microsoft.com)
  • Cleared Teams cache and signed out/in
  • Looking under Meeting options → Participation — the toggle is completely missing (Q&A, reactions, and attendance report are visible)

Expected behavior: According to Microsoft documentation, the “Hide attendee names” toggle should appear under Participation in Meeting options when the organizer has Teams Premium and AttendeeIdentityMasking is enabled.

Question: Why is the toggle still not appearing even after the license is assigned and the meeting policy is set to Enabled? Is there an additional tenant-level configuration required, or is this a known backend issue that needs Microsoft support to enable?

Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello Swarna Biswal

As this forum is intended for user-to-user support, I’m unable to check your tenant configuration directly. However, based on the information you provided, I would recommend the following checks:

1/ Verify the organizer is receiving the expected meeting policy:

    Get-CsOnlineUser -Identity <UPN> | Select DisplayName, TeamsMeetingPolicy

Then confirm the effective policy has:

    Get-CsTeamsMeetingPolicy -Identity <PolicyName> | Select AttendeeIdentityMasking

Although the Global policy has been configured, the user may be receiving a different effective meeting policy.

2/ Test with another Teams Premium licensed user in the same tenant. This helps determine whether the issue is account-specific or tenant-wide.

This helps determine whether the issue is isolated to a single account or affects the entire tenant.

The test organizer account has an active Teams Premium license under "Microsoft 365 admin center" > "Users" > "Active users" > "Licenses and apps".

    Immagine dell'utente

3/ Create both a new Teams Meeting and a new Webinar, then compare whether the "Hide attendee names" option appears in either scenario.

Microsoft states that attendee identity masking is supported for both meetings and webinars. Testing both scenarios helps determine whether the issue is specific to the webinar workflow or whether the feature entitlement is not being surfaced at all for the organizer account.

    Kind regards,

I've just been through this with a client. They have M365 Business Standard licenses, we added Teams Premium licenses & waited for the Premium features to become available (stupidly long time BTW, 24 hours to provision? Please). Once Premium was confirmed & the policy was set, the toggle simply would not show for the Premium users under any circumstances.

We tried everything & nothing worked. Research led me to this article about the license changes April 1st 2026: https://windowsforum.com/news/teams-events-licensing-changes-2026-enterprise-features-premium-legacy-limits-and-attendee-packs.446175/

As the article says, hide attendee names was initially dropped from the foundational tier (M365 Business Basic/Std/Premium), but later advice says that it was still included.

Out of sheer frustration, we started a Teams Enterprise trial & allocated a license to the users who required hide attendee capability, leaving them with M365 Business Standard, Teams Enterprise & Teams Premium all allocated (which shouldn't be the case, but any way). The result was that within an hour or so, the toggle appeared for the users!!!

Going by my experience, the OP's experience, & the experience of countless numbers of people who have acquired Teams Premium licenses after April the 1st 2026 (just do a quick Google search), it seems that this feature hasn't been properly reintroduced to the foundational tier with Teams Premium, & only legacy users (with a Teams Premium license from prior to April the 1st 2026) have this feature.

It's a complete shambles & it would be nice if someone could fight their way through the support bots & get to a human who might be able to do something about it.

    Cheers,

    Justin (Sydney, Aus)
