Accessing Microsoft Teams using organizational or personal credentials
For a Teams sign-in blocked by Microsoft Authenticator, use this order:
- In Teams, select the Sign in banner or button again and complete any prompts, including MFA.
- If no sign-in window appears, check the taskbar notification area near the clock for the Teams icon with a badge, then open it.
- If it still does not open, quit and reopen Teams, then try signing in again.
- Make sure the device has a working internet connection.
- Verify the device date and time are correct. Incorrect date and time can block access to secure sites and cause sign-in failures.
- If the organization requires a specific network or VPN, connect to that network before opening Teams.
- Avoid switching between networks while Teams is open.
- Update Teams to the latest version from profile picture > Check for updates.
- On Microsoft Authenticator, make sure the app is unlocked, notifications are enabled, the app is updated, and the device has network access. If authentication still does not complete, switching between Wi‑Fi and mobile data can help.
If the issue continues, this usually requires help from the organization’s IT admin. The admin can review the sign-in problem and, if needed, reset or require re-registration of MFA methods so Authenticator can be set up again.
If repeated sign-in attempts were made, Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication may temporarily block more attempts. In that case, wait and try again later, or use a different MFA method if one is available.
