XBOX won't sign me in after a Windows Update 0x87DD0005

No matter what I do, I get the above error trying to sign in to Microsoft Solitaire & Casual Games. I have a subscription. I'm signed on to XBOX with my browser, but the game won't sign in and I have to play as Guest without all my settings & how far I've gotten with various games in that collection. HELP! Bots are useless and I'm spending too much time reading instead of playing. What a waste of my time. I'm getting charged for that game whether I can play it or not.

My machine installed a Windows Update before this started happening. I played yesterday for a while, so it's not my computer, dangit. How can I be logged in with my browser, but not inside the game. I supposedly cleared cache, tried to reset, and reinstalled XBOX Live and the game.

i am on a pc (win 11). I can log into my xbox account but not when I'm playing MS solitaire. It started to happen just after I installed the 2026-10 .NET Framework Security Update (KB5127694) and 2026-10 Security Update (KB5127648) (26300.9711) updates. I have tried many, many things and nothing fixes it. Claude Fable has suggested multiple things to try. None of them work. The error message is "we couldn't sign you into xbox live" 0x87DD0005

I have the exact same problem and none of the solutions provided by AI is working. Microsoft Mahjong worked fine for me yesterday, but following updates it will not allow any account to sign in.

I restored a system image of the C: partition created on October 7, 2026, following the installation of the Windows 26H2 update. After the restore and reboot, I immediately blocked updates—meaning I did not install the .NET Framework security updates for October 2026 (KB5127694 and KB5127648 [26300.9711])—and launched Microsoft Solitaire & Casual Games, only to encounter the same error. I then repeated all the steps recommended by the AI, again without success. I believe the issue lies directly with Microsoft and hope they will take action. I should note that my son, using the same home network, has no issues with Microsoft Solitaire & Casual Games or Forza Horizon; his account is recognized without any problems.

Exactly the same here. I got a computer update this morning (windows 11) and I am now having the same issue. Everything was working properly yesterday before the update, now, none of them will let me sign in. I will note, I can sign in perfectly fine to microsoft store as well as the xbox app, but trying any of the actual games gives me the 0x87DD0005 error. I tried signing out of everything, restarting the device, reinstalling apps; nothing has worked. I do have a pc running an older version of windows 11 as well as ones running windows 10, so I have workarounds, but it's frustrating to find out people have been having this issue since yesterday.

Rise of Nations Extended Edition on Windows 11 stopped functioning, displaying an error indicating it cannot connect to Xbox Live with code x87dd0005, reminds older systems where a missing .DLL file could break a game, resolved by copying the file from a friend’s CD lol!

Ive tried following x87dd0005 for thie Attempts to fix the problem included reinstalling and restarting, as well as the following steps: enabling and starting Xbox background services via services.msc for Xbox Accessory Management Service, Xbox Live Auth Manager, Xbox Live Game Save, and Xbox Live Networking Service; clearing the TokenBroker cache in C:\Users[Your Username]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AC\TokenBroker; syncing date and time through Windows Settings; and resetting the Xbox App and Microsoft Store.

Still not fix!

Same problem here, carried out windows 'repair', deleted xbox and microsoft solitaire and reinstalled, cleared credential manager, and all other suggestions. All to no avail. BUT this only affects my Acer computer - no problem on my Dell or HP both of which have also had the latest windows updates and run solitaire collection perfectly. Strange or what?

I have the same exact issues and have tried all known fixes on my PC. Interestingly, I have the app installed on my iPhone and have zero issues signing in and playing on my iPhone. That seems to point to the fact that it is NOT a server/network issues, rather an issue with how the PC is handling the sign on process. I had this issue a few months back and the available fixes worked...not this time.

I had the same problem.

On my Dell 14 laptop, Windows Update installed Intel Corporation Extension Driver Update (32.0.100.4841), Intel Corporation Extension Driver Update (24.1070.0.1) and Dell, Inc. Firmware Driver Update (1.14.1.0).

It's fixed now.

I paused updates, uninstalled the latest security update but didn't restart. If you restart, the update will reinstall, I did that over and over again yesterday to no avail. One other update I was unable to uninstall. But since I didn't restart, I am now able to sign in. I have decided to turn off updates for now. The updates will ruin a computer. Ask me how I know.

As of today it seems it is now fixed. I did not do anything. Just tried to log in for the last 2 days and it was not working. Today, same thing, working again.

The same thing just happened to me. I decided to try one more time before I went to bed and everything worked. And it's still working. I'm keeping virtual fingers crossed.

I uninstalled two updates KB5127694 and KB5127648, then restarted the computer, then reinstalled the two updates I just removed, and restarted the computer. I can log in to XBOX without an issue.
