Stuck ssd screw in a Surface Pro 9

I bought myself a Surface Pro 9 but it only came with a 256mb SSD. I managed to get a second mortgage and get myself a 1tb replacement. However, when I tried to remove the existing ssd, it was not moving. I couldn't get any kind of purchase on the securing screw no matter what type of head I used in my screw driver. It is too close to the bottom of the hatch to get pliers to grip it and, by now, the screw is almost completely rounded. Someone suggested I should have been using a Torx head but again nothing worked. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution before the screws head is not the only one that is busted? Thanks

Microsoft's official Surface Pro 9 service guide specifies a 3IP Torx Plus driver for the SSD retaining screw—not just any Torx bit. The same guide says the screw is reused, so it is important not to damage the surrounding area while removing it.

If the head is already rounded, have a technician remove it and replace the screw before fitting the 1 TB SSD.
