A family of Microsoft products that enable users to capture, organize, and reuse notes electronically.
Hello Wayne Eckerle,
Thanks for the details. Since the new entries show up and then disappear, I'm not sure yet whether this is a sync issue or something else, so a few details would help me narrow it down:
- Where is the notebook stored (OneDrive, SharePoint, or only on your computer)?
- Which OneNote app are you using, OneNote for Microsoft 365 (desktop) or OneNote for Windows 10?
- After the notes vanish, can you still see them at onenote.com?
In the meantime, here are a few checks that might point to the cause:
- Go to File > Info > View Sync Status, select Sync Now, and look for any yellow triangle or sync error: Fix issues when you can't sync OneNote.
- Look for Misplaced Sections at the bottom of your notebook list. Unsynced pages sometimes end up there.
- If the notes are visible at onenote.com, try reopening the notebook from the web with Open in Desktop App, which may reset the connection.
The Notebook Recycle Bin and Open Backups steps in the earlier answer are also worth trying, and Microsoft's page covers them: Recover deleted notes.
Let me know what you find and we can go from there.
