An Azure service that is used to provision Windows and Linux virtual machines.
Hi @Neha Gurav
Sounds like the Remote Desktop licensing grace period ran out on the VM. This happens when the Remote Desktop Session Host role is installed but no RD license server is set up, so regular RDP logins get refused. An admin session usually still works, so you can use it to fix this:
- Back up first: in the Azure portal, open the VM's OS disk and select Create snapshot.
- On your PC, press Win + R and run
mstsc /v:<VM public IP> /admin. Sign in with your admin account. - If you don't need more than 2 people connected at once, open Command Prompt as administrator and run
dism /ONLINE /Disable-feature /FeatureName:Remote-Desktop-Services - Restart the VM and connect the normal way.
Could you share the exact error text? A few licensing messages look alike, and the wording will confirm this is the right fix. If you add a screenshot, hide the IP address first.
If this solved the problem, please consider accepting the answer. If it's still not working, let me know and I'll be happy to keep helping.
