When I open a new tab on Microsoft edge it is not showing the news feed. In the settings menu of the new tab page, it shows no settings just a small grey window. On msn.com it does not show the feed either, unless I turn off new msn homepage. I have already tried clearing cache and cookies and clearing browsing data. I have also repaired edge through the settings app.

    Hi,

This can happen when the current Edge profile is corrupted. Try creating a new Edge profile to see if the news feed appears there. To do this, click the Profile icon, then select Set up a new profile > Personal. Once the new profile opens, the news feed in the new tab should display by default.

Since clearing cache/cookies, browsing data, and repairing Edge were already tried, the next supported checks are:

    1. Check whether an extension is breaking the new tab page
      • In Edge, select the Extensions icon next to the address bar, then select Manage Extensions.
      • Disable extensions one at a time, especially anything that changes page appearance or the new tab page.
      • Then open a new tab again.
      • Extensions can change new tab page settings and can also cause website display problems.
    2. Verify the new tab page setting in Edge
      • Go to Settings and more (...) > Settings > Start, home, and new tab page.
      • Make sure the preferred new tab setting is selected.
      • If an extension is modifying the new tab page, disable it.
    3. Turn Microsoft News/feed back on from the new tab page customization
      • On the new tab page, select the customize button.
      • Turn Microsoft News content/feed back on. If needed, use Custom and make sure content/feed is enabled.
      • If quick links were disabled, they can also be turned back on from Custom.
    4. Check whether the issue is limited to the current Edge profile
      • A reported resolution for delayed or broken Home/New Tab behavior is to test with a new Edge profile.
      • If the feed and settings work correctly in a new profile, the current profile may be corrupted.
    5. Make sure Edge is fully updated
      • Go to Settings and more > Settings > About Microsoft Edge.
      • Apply any available update, then restart Edge.
    6. If Edge opens but pages still do not behave correctly, clear cached files again as a targeted test
      • Go to Settings and more > History > Open history page > Delete browsing data.
      • Choose All time, select Browsing history and Cached images and files, then select Clear now.
      • This is still worth testing after updates or extension changes because cached page state can continue to affect the new tab page.

Based on the symptoms—blank/grey customization pane on the new tab page and feed missing on both the new tab page and MSN unless the new MSN homepage is turned off—the strongest supported next step is to disable extensions and test in a new Edge profile. That best matches documented causes for new tab page changes and a reported resolution for broken new tab behavior.
