I'm looking for old emails and it seems everything before April 2026 is gone.

    Hi @Barbara Calderón - Consultant

First, please feel free to check out the AI answer that is already been given.

To narrow this down, please sign in to your mailbox through a web browser and check whether emails from before April 2026 appear there.

    • If they appear on the web but not in the Outlook app, the app may be downloading only a limited period of mail.
    • If they are also missing on the web, this is not simply a synchronization or display issue.

Could you confirm whether this is a personal Outlook.com/Hotmail account or a work/school account, and whether the older emails appear when you access the mailbox online?

Thank you for your time and I hope you have a nice day

For Outlook.com, check these places first because older messages are often moved rather than lost:

    1. Deleted Items
      • Open Deleted Items and look for the missing messages.
      • If found, select the message and choose Restore.
      • If it is not there, in Deleted Items select Recover items deleted from this folder. Messages removed from Deleted Items are recoverable for 30 days.
    2. Archive
      • Open the Archive folder.
      • If the missing messages are there, select them and choose Move to > Inbox.
    3. Junk Email
      • Open Junk Email.
      • If the messages are there, select them and choose Report > Not junk.
      • Messages are automatically removed from Junk Email after 30 days and are not recoverable.
    4. Other tab
      • If Focused Inbox is enabled, check the Other tab.
      • If a message is there by mistake, select Move to > Move to Focused inbox.
    5. Filter settings
      • Above the message list, select Filter and set it to All so older messages are not hidden.
    6. Rules
      • Check Rules settings to see whether a rule or Sweep rule is moving older mail out of the Inbox.
      • If a rule is incorrect, edit or delete it.
    7. Recent account activity
      • If messages disappeared unexpectedly, review recent sign-in activity on the Microsoft account to check for unusual access.

If none of those locations contain the mail, and the messages are no longer in Deleted Items recovery, the available context does not provide another Outlook.com recovery path beyond using Outlook.com support.
