    Hello,

I’m sorry I misunderstood your question earlier.

To answer your question, Microsoft updated the Photos app on Windows 11 mainly to focus on cloud syncing and folder organization. The tools for editing hidden file information, such as metadata, were removed. So you can no longer add Descriptions directly in the Photos app. So,

I would recommend trying the alternative method (the second method) suggested by Bulldog, which allows you to edit the description directly through File Explorer.

    Three methods:

1- [Best method] Use whatever feature your photo editing software provides to enter a description. (Microsoft Photos displays photos - it does not edit them.)

2- [Alternate method] Open the image file's Properties sheet and enter a Subject.

To do this: Right-click on the image file > choose Properties > select the Details tab

3- [Alternate method] Create a Notepad file that includes the name of the image file and a description of the photo. You can conveniently organize all the photos in a folder with this method.

    Hello,

Could you please clarify what you mean by “description”? Are you referring to a description or caption that you have added to a photo in the Microsoft Photos app?

Do you see a “Save Options” option in the Microsoft Photos app while editing the photo, as shown in the screenshot?
