Escalation Request to Windows Team – Microsoft Paint and Snipping Tool Issue Affecting 300+ Users
Subject: Escalation Request to Windows Team – Microsoft Paint and Snipping Tool Issue Affecting 300+ Users
Dear Microsoft Windows Support Team,
We would like to request assistance from the Windows Product/Deployment Team regarding an issue affecting Microsoft Paint and Snipping Tool across our environment.
Issue Description
We have observed that Microsoft Paint and Snipping Tool are not functioning correctly on multiple Windows 11 devices in our organization. The issue was first noticed after deploying a Microsoft Purview DLP policy intended to restrict clipboard actions with ChatGPT.
Environment
- Windows 11 Business / Pro
- Version 25H2 (OS Build 26200.9448)
- OEM Windows licenses
- Microsoft Intune managed devices
- Microsoft Purview DLP deployed
- 300+ affected users
- Devices are domain joined and operating in the same environment
Investigation Completed
We have already worked with Microsoft Intune Support and Microsoft Purview Support teams.
The following have been verified:
- No Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC) policies configured.
- No AppLocker policies configured.
- No Attack Surface Reduction (ASR) rules applied.
- No Security Baselines impacting application execution.
- No Endpoint Security policies blocking applications.
- No custom OMA-URI policies related to application control.
- Devices report normal policy compliance.
- Same issue observed across multiple devices.
Both Intune and Purview teams have reviewed the environment. However, the issue has not yet been resolved, and we have been advised that further investigation may require involvement from the Windows team.
Business Impact
- More than 300 users are impacted.
- Microsoft Paint and Snipping Tool are business-critical tools used for documentation, support, and operational activities.
- The issue is causing significant disruption to day-to-day operations.
Request
We kindly request the Windows Team to:
- Investigate whether this is a Windows 11 25H2 issue, known bug, or design limitation.
- Confirm whether OEM licensing limitations could impact supportability or troubleshooting.
- Review if there is any interaction between Windows components, Paint, Snipping Tool, and Purview DLP controls.
- Identify any known issues affecting these applications on Windows 11 Build 26200.9448.
- Escalate to the appropriate Product Group if additional engineering review is required.
Our Concern
We have already raised official Microsoft support cases and invested significant time working with multiple Microsoft teams. As this issue affects a large enterprise environment and over 300 users, we respectfully request engineering-level investigation rather than redirection to community forums.
We would appreciate clear ownership and guidance from Microsoft regarding the next steps toward resolution.
Thank you for your support and assistance.
