Help! Windows Update Issue - Install is Always Pending + Install All button unavailable (light blue).

Hello,

My Windows PC is not able to install the latest Windows Updates. Despite the correct automatic "get the lastest update" settings, I am still unable to click (even as an administrator user) the "Install All" blue button - which is faded blue and non-responsive on the Windows Update Settings; whist the security update status just continues to read Pending Install.

Hence, it is currently still trying to install the security update from 2026-01.

Is there any fix for this, or is re-installing Windows the next step? Please let me know thanks.

You will not need to reinstall Windows to resolve this problem, please provide some information about your current Windows 11 Build No. and the updates that are failing to install.

Click your Start Button, type winver and press Enter.

Please provide a screenshot of the resulting dialog.

Open the Settings App.

Go to Windows Updates.

Please provide a screenshot of that window.
