Try these steps in order:
- Close Minecraft Launcher and restart Windows. Sometimes the gaming services needed for sign-in and launch get into a bad state, and a restart can fix it.
- Make sure Windows is fully updated. Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates and install any available updates.
- Update Microsoft Store apps. Open Microsoft Store > See more > Downloads and updates > Get updates.
- Repair or reset Minecraft Launcher. Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Minecraft Launcher > Advanced options > Repair. If that does not help, use Reset.
- Reinstall Gaming Services.
Open PowerShell as Administrator and run:
Then in the same PowerShell window run:get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
Install Gaming Services from the Store page that opens, accept the UAC prompt, and then try launching Minecraft again.start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN - If Gaming Services still appears broken, use the Windows 10 Gaming Services workaround carefully.
This removes Gaming Services packages and related service registry keys, so it should be used only if the earlier steps fail.
- Open Notepad.
- Paste this PowerShell script:
Get-AppxPackage *gamingservices* -allusers | remove-appxpackage -allusers Remove-Item -Path "HKLM:\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServices" -recurse Remove-Item -Path "HKLM:\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServicesNet" -recurse- Save it as RepairGamingServices.ps1.
- Right-click the script and select Run as administrator.
- Restart the device.
- Open the Xbox app and install Gaming Services again when prompted.
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account everywhere. Minecraft Launcher can fail if the Microsoft account used in the launcher does not match the Microsoft Store or Xbox app account. Sign out of Minecraft Launcher, Microsoft Store, and Xbox app, restart the PC, then sign back in.
If the launcher still fails after these steps, the issue is most likely with Gaming Services or Store components rather than the Minecraft installation itself.
