    Dear Antoni Koselski,

Good day! Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum!

First of all, I would like to clarify one point: this forum is intended for users to assist one another. No one, including myself, has the authority or the tools to resolve this issue on your behalf.

Based on your description, I understand that you did not get any notification in Microsoft authenticator with your university account but it works with your personal account.

In this situation, if you're an end-user, please reach out to your IT administrator for assistance. If you’re unable to sign in due to a phone change, a new phone number, or issues receiving your authentication code, your IT administrator can help by updating your authentication methods or revoking and re-registering your authentication by following the step-by-step instructions provided in the referenced article: Manage authentication methods for Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication - Microsoft Entra ID

Once the MFA reset process is complete, you will be prompted to set up a new authentication method the next time you sign in. This allows you to re-register Microsoft Authenticator and re-establish the sign-in notification link between your school account and the authenticator app.

Kindly let me know when there are updates or if you need further assistance. Any updates you're able to share would be really helpful. I appreciate vour time and look forward to hearing how things are going!

Thank you for your time and patience.

For a university account, the most likely causes are notification settings or an account-specific issue in Microsoft Authenticator.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Check the phone state
      • Make sure Do Not Disturb or Quiet mode is off.
      • Make sure Airplane mode is off.
      • If using mobile data, try Wi-Fi. If using Wi-Fi, try mobile data.
    2. Check Authenticator notification settings
      • Open Microsoft Authenticator.
      • Go to Settings.
      • Make sure Show notifications is turned on.
      • Make sure the app is allowed to use sound or vibration for notifications.
    3. Check the app and device state
      • Make sure Authenticator is unlocked when trying to sign in.
      • Update Authenticator to the latest version.
      • Turn off battery optimization for Authenticator.
      • Make sure the phone date and time are correct.
      • If using a VPN, disconnect it and test again.
    4. Open the app manually
      • Some sign-in requests do not appear as a pop-up notification.
      • Open Microsoft Authenticator directly and check whether the approval prompt is already waiting inside the app.
      • Pull down to refresh the app.
    5. Since personal mail works but the university account does not
      • Remove the university account from Authenticator.
      • Add it again and allow notifications when prompted.
      • This is specifically recommended when some accounts in the app receive notifications and others do not.
    6. If the sign-in shows "Authentication did not complete"
      • Check whether notifications may be arriving silently.
      • Check text messages for authentication codes.
      • Confirm the app is updated and the device has internet access.
    7. If it still fails
      • Because this is a work/school account, contact the university IT admin/help desk and ask them to reset MFA settings or require re-registration for MFA.
      • If all troubleshooting steps were already tried, send logs from Authenticator using Send feedback in the app, then provide that to the IT admin.
