    Hi,

This is a known bug in version 2609 of Office/Access. A fix by Microsoft is on the way but it is not yet sure if it will come out this week or later. Meanwhile there are 3 workarounds:

    1. You can roll back to version 2608 of Office/Access that is not affected.
    2. You can try if it helps to uncheck: File - Options - Current Database - Use as form and report icon
    3. You can try to open a second (dummy) report before you open a report where the error happens (and close the dummy afterwards).

    Hi Massimo,

Thank you for reporting this issue.

To help determine whether this is related to a recent Access build, could you please check your Access version and build number?

    1. Open Access.
    2. Go to File > Account > About Access.
    3. Note the following information:
      • Version
      • Build number
      • Update channel
      • Whether Access is 32-bit or 64-bit

If you are running Version 2609, there have been community reports of Error 2004 occurring when opening or previewing reports. Based on the information currently available, a possible temporary workaround is to roll back to Version 2608 while waiting for a permanent fix from Microsoft.

For additional background and community discussions regarding this issue, you may find the following resources helpful:

Once you have confirmed your version and build number, please let me know. I will be happy to review the details and suggest the most appropriate next steps.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions or additional information to share, please let me know.

    Best regards.

    Hi,

I have now got the information that a fix for this problem will be included in tomorrow's Current Channel update, which should be build 16.0.20430.20144.

    Hi @Dall'Asta, Massimo

understand your concern. below list the root cause and solution. please try and give your feedback.

Database corruption is a frequent cause of intermittent errors.

    1. Open Access.
    2. Select File → Info.
    3. Click Compact & Repair Database.

If the error occurs when opening a report:

    • Open the report in Design View.
    • Check the report's Record Source query.
    • Verify that all referenced tables, fields, and queries still exist.

    If the report uses VBA:

    1. Press Alt + F11 to open the VBA Editor.
    2. Select Debug → Compile VBA Project.
    3. Fix any compilation errors found.

Missing references can cause random errors.

    In the VBA Editor:

    Tools → References

    Look for any item marked:

    MISSING:

If found, clear the missing reference or replace it with the correct library.

Create a blank Access database and import the affected report:

External Data → New Data Source → From Database → Access

Import only the problematic object and test again.

    Thanks.
