If HP shows drivers unavailable, use Windows first, then install a compatible driver manually from the printer manufacturer if needed.
- Try Windows Update first. This is the recommended method for printer drivers.
- If Windows does not find a driver, go to the printer manufacturer’s official support or Drivers page.
- Search for the exact printer model.
- Download a driver that matches the installed Windows version and system type.
- Run the downloaded installer and restart Windows if prompted.
If the printer still does not install or respond:
- Open Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the printer and choose Remove.
- Restart the PC.
- Go back to Printers & scanners and select Add a printer or scanner.
- Let Windows install the recommended driver.
If using an ARM-based PC, use Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Add device instead of adding the printer manually, unless the printer manufacturer provides specific ARM guidance.
If the printer came with a disc, it can be used, but that software may be outdated. The preferred method is downloading the latest driver from the manufacturer’s website.
