To remove music and start over in PowerPoint:
- Go to the slide that contains the audio icon.
- Select the audio clip icon on the slide.
- Press Delete.
If the music is playing across the whole presentation, it is still attached to a slide, often the first slide. Check the first slide first, select the audio icon, and delete it.
If the icon is hidden during the slide show:
- Open the presentation in Normal view.
- Go slide by slide and look for the audio icon.
- Select it and press Delete.
If the audio is not meant to be deleted completely and only needs to be shortened:
- Select the audio clip.
- Open the Playback tab.
- Select Trim Audio or Trim.
- Use the sliders or yellow handles to remove the beginning or end of the clip.
To add new music after removing the old one:
- Select Insert > Audio.
- Select Audio on My PC.
- Choose the file and select Insert.
To control how the new music plays:
- Start > Automatically to play when the slide appears.
- Play Across Slides to continue through the presentation.
- Loop Until Stopped to repeat.
- Hide During Show to hide the speaker icon during the presentation.
