No Cameo on PowerPoint ribbon

Cameo is available in PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 in the desktop app for Windows or macOS, and in the web app. On desktop, it is available in the Current Channel and in the Semi-Annual Channel beginning with January 2023.

If the Cameo button is missing, use these checks:

1. Confirm the app is PowerPoint for Microsoft 365.
2. Confirm PowerPoint is updated to a version that includes Cameo.
3. In PowerPoint, try recording directly from Slide Show > Record or the Record tab. During recording, video can be turned on with the camera icon at the top.
4. If the Insert > Cameo command is available after updating, add it to a slide and use Preview to turn on the camera feed.

For recording with video even without inserting Cameo first:

1. Open the presentation.
2. Select Record on the Record tab, or Slide Show > Record.
3. Turn the camera and microphone on using the icons at the top.
4. To change devices, select Select more options.
5. Start recording.

If the newer recording experience is not shown, the classic path is:

1. Go to File > Options > Customize Ribbon.
2. Enable the Recording tab.
3. Select OK.
4. Start recording from Recording or Slide Show.

If the goal is only to record slides with video, recording can be done from the recording tools even when the Cameo command is not being used.
