This usually means the personal account has already been moved to the updated Copilot experience, and chats are still being migrated or are available through the updated web experience instead of the old sign-in path.
Try this in order:
- Use the web app directly at copilot.com.
- Sign in with the same personal sign-in method used before:
- personal Microsoft account, or
- Continue with Google, or
- Continue with Apple
- If the account used multiple linked personal accounts, sign in with the same personal email or sign-in option previously used. Eligible history and content are brought together through the Microsoft account automatically.
- If old chats are missing after sign-in:
- quit and reopen Copilot, or refresh the web page
- follow any in-app message that offers a link to previous chats/content
- wait and try again later, because chat migration can take time
- If only one personal account has moved and another has not, open a private browsing session, go to copilot.microsoft.com, and sign in with the personal account to check its status:
- if redirected to copilot.com, that account has moved or is finishing the move
- if it stays on copilot.microsoft.com, that account can still be used there until it moves later
- If the app keeps pushing installation from Google Play but there is no device space, use the web experience instead. Copilot is available in a modern browser.
- If the issue continues, report it from the Copilot app or site:
- select the ellipsis (…) in the upper-right corner
- select Send feedback
- select Report a problem
- include when it started, device and OS details, and a screenshot
Important account detail:
- Personal and work/school accounts stay separate. Use the account switcher and confirm the correct Personal account is selected.
About the 50+ chats:
- Chats and most content should move to the updated Copilot app.
- If the app shows chats are “coming soon,” the move is still in progress, and Copilot can still be used while that completes.
