Android Copilot app is displaying a different conversation history from both Copilot for Windows and copilot.microsoft.com, despite all three being signed into the same Microsoft account.

After noticing my Copilot android app icon had become greyed out and retitled 'Copilot (Legacy)', Copilot itself advised me to uninstall it and reinstall Copilot from the Google Play Store. I did this and noticed the newly installed Android app displays a completely different chat history from the history shown in Copilot on Windows and in a web browser. This is the 'main' Copilot app, not M365 Copilot.

Expected behaviour

The Android Copilot app should display the same conversation history as:

• Copilot for Windows

• Copilot in a web browser (copilot.microsoft.com)

when signed into the same Microsoft account.

Actual behaviour

The Android Copilot app shows a different set of conversations and does not display several important existing chats.

Examples of conversations visible in Windows and web but missing from the Android app:

• Fitness and Health

• Winter Sea Swimming Kit Guide

• Flotation Tank Safety and Experience

• Suzanne's Fairy Belief

The Android app instead displays a different set of conversations, including:

• Missing Recent Conversations Issue

• Amazon Price Drop Alerts Request

• Bee Hotel Design Template Request

Troubleshooting completed

• Confirmed only one Microsoft account is in use.

• Signed out and back into the Android Copilot app.

• Cleared Android app cache/storage.

• Force closed and restarted the app.

• Confirmed the same Microsoft account is used on all devices.

Key findings

• Copilot for Windows shows the expected conversation history.

• Copilot accessed through a mobile browser at copilot.microsoft.com shows the same expected conversation history as Windows.

• Only the Android Copilot app shows a different conversation history.

This suggests the conversation history still exists on the account and is accessible through Windows and web clients, but the Android Copilot app is retrieving or displaying a different history.

Impact

Several ongoing conversations have been maintained for weeks or months and are not accessible through the Android Copilot app, despite being available through other Copilot clients using the same Microsoft account.

Google Pixel 6A / Android 17

    Hi, SLT

Thanks for the clear screenshots and the steps you’ve already tried. Since Windows and the mobile browser show the same chats, the conversations are still accessible; the difference is limited to the newly installed Android app. The updated Copilot app can show a different history while chats are being moved and synced, but I can’t confirm that’s the cause in your case.

Here are some suggestions you can try:

First, check the Android app for a message or link offering access to existing chats. Also check Notebooks if any missing conversations were previously in Projects. Neither requires resetting the app again.

For now, use the mobile browser for the ongoing chats and save a copy of anything important. You can export your Copilot app activity from the Microsoft privacy dashboard, but do not select “Delete all activity history.”

If the lists remain different, report it through the Android app’s feedback option and contact Microsoft Support. Include these screenshots, the Pixel 6a and Android version, and the fact that sign-in, cache clearing, and reinstalling did not help. This needs investigation rather than another round of the same local fixes.
