Azure App Service is a service used to create and deploy scalable, mission-critical web apps.
GitHub Student Developer Pack approval does not automatically make an Azure for Students account eligible. Azure for Students requires separate verification of academic status through an organization or school email address, and the offer is limited to one Azure for Students subscription per eligible customer.
A practical path for this case:
- Confirm eligibility requirements for Azure for Students:
- Full-time student at an accredited, degree-granting institution.
- Academic status must be verified through the organization’s email address.
- Only one Azure for Students subscription is allowed per eligible customer.
- If the Microsoft account already exists and needs to be connected to the school email, add the university email as a sign-in alias:
- Go to the Microsoft account sign-in page.
- Open Your info.
- Select Manage how you sign in to Microsoft.
- Verify identity with the security code.
- Select Add email and add the university email address.
- If access is through Azure Dev Tools for Teaching, student access is based on the institution’s verified domain. Students in the institution’s domain can sign in and redeem benefits when that domain is enabled for the subscription.
- If verification still fails, use the student support path listed for Azure Education issues: Microsoft support webpage.
The key point is that a GitHub verification alone is not sufficient for Azure for Students. Azure checks eligibility separately using the academic email/domain.
