I cannot open excel or word or office docs on my computer. At first it said unlicensed now it says it has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly and will need to be closed as a result.

It is giving me a repair option but when I click on that nothing happens!

    Hello

Can you please go to your Microsoft account https://account.live.com > Subscriptions, tell me what's the full exact name of your Microsoft 365 subscription? What's the status, is it currently active?

Then on the App itself, go to Files > Accounts, what's the full name of the product here?

    Use this order:

    1. Update Office first
      • Open any Office app if possible.
      • Go to File > Account.
      • Under Product Information, select Update Options > Update Now.
      • If Update Now is not shown, select Enable Updates first.
    2. Start the app in Safe Mode to check add-ins
      • Press Windows + R.
      • For Word, type winword /safe and press Enter.
      • If Word opens in Safe Mode, go to File > Options > Add-Ins.
      • In Manage, select the add-in type, choose Go, clear the add-ins, and restart normally.
      • The same approach applies to other Office apps.
    3. Run a full Office repair The Repair Now button in the error dialog may not fix the problem. Use Online Repair instead. Windows 11
      • Right-click Start > Installed apps.
      • Find Microsoft 365 or Office.
      • Select the three dots > Modify.
      • Choose Online Repair > Repair.
      Windows 10
      • Right-click Start > Apps and Features.
      • Select Microsoft 365 or Office > Modify.
      • Choose Online Repair > Repair.
      Notes:
      • This repairs the entire Office suite, even if only Word or Excel is failing.
      • Online Repair is more thorough than Quick Repair.
      • Restart the PC after the repair finishes.
    4. If Office says it is busy or still will not open
      • Wait a few minutes and try again.
      • Restart the computer.
      • If the problem continues, use the Office uninstall troubleshooter to completely remove Office, then reinstall it.
    5. If Office files open in the wrong app or do not open by double-clicking
      • Run a Quick Repair from Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > select Office > Change > Quick Repair.
      • If needed, manually set the correct default app in Control Panel > Programs > Default Programs.

If the original message first showed unlicensed, and now all Office apps fail with the error, the most direct fix from the documented steps is Online Repair.
