Unable to select additional channels when posting to multiple channels

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue with publishing a single post to multiple channels simultaneously in Microsoft Teams. This functionality previously worked correctly, but it has recently stopped functioning as expected.

When composing a new post and using the option to select additional channels, the option itself remains available, and the current channel ("General") is displayed in the field. Previously, when I typed the name of a team, the dropdown list offered the "General" channel of every team whose name contained that text. This no longer happens. Now the search returns only channels from other teams whose own channel name contains the entered text. The "General" channels of teams whose team name contains the entered text do not appear at all. If no channel name matches, the dropdown displays only "We couldn't find any matches," even though I am a member of those teams.

Summary of the problem:

The option to post to multiple channels is still visible, so the feature itself appears to be available.

The search matches only channel names and ignores team names.

The "General" channels of other teams never appear in the results, so I am unable to select them.

Could you please advise whether this may be caused by a recent update, a permission or policy change, or a known issue? If there is a recommended solution or workaround, I would be grateful for any guidance.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

    Hi @Kinga

I would first recommend checking whether you can manually create a normal post directly in one of the affected destination channels. If you can post there normally, but the same channel does not appear when using Post in multiple channels, this would help rule out a channel-level posting permission or moderation restriction.

Since you have already reproduced the same behavior in both the Teams desktop client and Teams on the web, it is less likely to be caused solely by a local Teams client or cache issue.

For comparison, I also tested the same Post in multiple channels functionality in two different Microsoft 365 tenants, and it worked normally in both. This makes a general Teams client issue less likely and may indicate that the issue is specific to the affected tenant, user, or tenant-level configuration.

You could also test the following to help narrow down the issue:

    • Check whether all destination channels are missing, or only channels belonging to certain Teams.
    • Ask another member of the same Teams to try posting to the same destination channels.
    • Try posting to multiple channels from a different source Team/channel.
    • If possible, check whether the issue affects multiple users in your organization.

If multiple users are affected, I recommend asking your Microsoft 365 administrator to raise a support request with Microsoft Support, so the issue can be investigated at the service or tenant level.
