Using older versions of Outlook for Mac for personal email and calendar
A Microsoft account password cannot be viewed in plain text.
If facial recognition signs in automatically, that is Windows Hello using the account without showing the password. To access the account when the face sign-in is not available:
- On the Windows sign-in screen, select Sign-in options.
- If a password icon appears, use the Microsoft account password instead of facial recognition or PIN.
- If the password is forgotten, reset it at Recover your account.
- If the account password has stopped working even though it is believed to be correct, use the Sign-in Helper.
- If no password option appears and only PIN or Windows Hello is shown, use the I forgot my password or I forgot my PIN link on the sign-in screen if available.
If the device is using a local Windows account instead of a Microsoft account, the password can be reset from the sign-in screen by selecting Reset password and answering the configured security questions.
Microsoft support cannot retrieve or reveal a lost password, and support agents cannot send password reset links or change account details.
