Excel formulas cannot directly count cells by fill color.

Fastest built-in method:

Select column A. Go to Data > Filter. Click the filter arrow in column A. Choose Filter by Color > Yellow.

Look at the status bar at the bottom of Excel. It will show the count of visible cells.
