Additional team and channel-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams for Education
If this is a Teams meeting, the code prompt can mean one of these cases:
- Use the meeting link instead of signing in first
- Open the meeting invite.
- Select Join or Join the meeting now.
- When prompted, choose Continue on this browser or Join on the Teams app.
- Select Join now.
- If Teams asks for a code after entering an email address
- Some meetings are set so unverified people must be checked before joining.
- Enter the email address.
- Select Next.
- If there is no Microsoft account for that email, select Send code and enter the one-time passcode sent to that email.
- Then select Join now.
- If the meeting puts the account in the lobby
- Wait for someone in the meeting to admit the account.
- If no one admits the account within 30 minutes, Teams removes it from the lobby, and it can be tried again.
- If this is not a meeting but a Team or channel invite
- A team join code is different from a Microsoft account password.
- To join with a code in Teams:
- Select New items at the top of the chats and channels list.
- Select Join team.
- Under Join a team with a code, enter the code.
- Select Add team.
- If the team is private, the team owner may need to approve the request.
- Guests can’t join a team by using a link or code.
- If no code was ever received
- Check whether the invite is for a meeting or for joining a Team.
- For a meeting, the code may be a one-time passcode sent to the email address entered.
- For a Team, the code must come from the team owner or organizer.
If the goal is to join right away, the fastest path is usually to open the meeting invite and choose Continue on this browser.
