Azure for students-

when i try to go through the verification steps after entering my information [name, date of birth, institution name, student email, etc, i get an error message that says : "Unable to confirm your University ID" which doesnt make sense because it didnt even give me the chance to put my ID

there were a few things i noticed when filling out the verification details -

the site is not taking the name of the institution i put, whether i put mine or anything else , it simply deletes it soon as i click on somewhere else

there's also a screen that says 'verification complete' right above the submit button even though i havent verified anything

any idea? any information is greatly appreciated! thank you

    Hi @Bryan Urias

The clue is the institution box clearing itself. On that form you can't type a school name freely. You have to pick it from the suggestions that appear as you type, and if you click away without picking one, the field empties. When the form then submits with no institution attached, it fails with "Unable to confirm your University ID". The "verification complete" text is just a leftover label from an earlier step, not an actual result, so ignore it.

    Try it this way:

    1. Open https://azure.microsoft.com/free/students in a fresh InPrivate or Incognito window and click Start free.
    2. Fill in your details, and in the institution box, type the first few letters of your school slowly, then wait for the dropdown and click your school in the list. Don't press Tab or click elsewhere until it's selected.
    3. Use your official student email, then submit.

Does your school show up in that dropdown at all when you type it? If it doesn't appear, that means it isn't in Microsoft's academic list, and there's a different verification route we can use instead. Let me know and I'll walk you through it.

    Hi Bryan,

The “Unable to confirm your University ID” message usually means Azure's student verification service is not able to match your institution or enrollment details. It can happen even when your university email itself is working.

    I would try these steps:

Open an InPrivate/Incognito window and go to the Azure for Students signup page.

Sign out of other Microsoft accounts first.

Use your official university email and enter your details exactly as they appear in your university records.

If the university name disappears when you click elsewhere, try entering it again and wait for the institution to appear as a selectable result before continuing.

If you still get “Unable to confirm your University ID,” the problem may be that your university/domain isn't being recognized by Microsoft's verification system.

In that case, contact Azure for Education Support and provide your university name, country, student email domain, and the screenshot of the error.

Also, the “Verification complete” text appearing before you actually submit doesn't necessarily mean the university verification has successfully completed; the final eligibility check can still fail.

I would not post your student ID or other personal documents publicly. Send those only through Microsoft's private support channel if requested.

    Thanks
