My PC came with Home Single Language but it was upgraded to Pro. Can you help me revert it so my digital license activates?

    Hi Adzah,

If the PC originally came with Windows 11 Home Single Language and it was changed to Windows 11 Pro, the Home Single Language digital license won't activate Pro. The installed edition needs to match the license.

    Please check first:

Go to Settings → System → Activation and confirm it shows Windows 11 Pro.

If the original license is Home Single Language, the supported way to return to it is to back up your files and reinstall Windows 11 Home Single Language. Microsoft notes that changing from Pro back to an unsupported Home edition requires a clean installation.

Download the official Windows 11 installation media from Microsoft and create a bootable USB.

During Windows setup, select Windows 11 Home Single Language. If asked for a product key, select I don't have a product key.

Once installation is complete, connect to the internet and sign in with the Microsoft account linked to the original digital license. Windows should activate automatically if the license is tied to that device.

Important: Back up your important files before reinstalling, because a clean installation can remove the existing Windows installation and applications.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Unlike upgrading Windows, there is no simple rollback option when moving from Windows 11 Pro to Windows 11 Home Single Language. Because this is an edition downgrade, the supported approach is generally to perform a clean installation of Windows 11 Home Single Language. Make sure to back up your important files before proceeding.

Find an empty USB drive with at least 8 GB of space and a working computer, then follow the steps below:

    1. Click this link: https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11

Under Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO), Click on "Download tool now."

    1. Run the tool, create a bootable USB drive or ISO file, and deselect the 'Use the recommended options for this PC' box to choose the correct language and edition.

    Once the process is done:

    1. Connect the installation media to your PC.
    2. Start your PC and press any key to continue. Click Next > Click Install Now.
    3. When the Windows Setup starts, follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: If prompted for a product key, click 'I do not have a product key' and then click Next.

Make sure you install the same edition of Windows 11 Home Single Language that you previously had installed to avoid activation issues.

For a step-by-step guide with illustrations, click the link below and scroll down to the 'Steps to reinstall Windows with media' section, then expand the 'Clean install' option:
