Rounded numbers in Excel are often only a display issue, not a calculation issue. Excel keeps the full stored value and uses that full value in calculations.
Try these steps:
- Select the affected cell or range.
- Go to Home > Increase Decimal.
- Click it once for each extra decimal place to show.
If many cells are affected:
- Select the cells.
- Go to Home > Number Format dropdown > More Number Formats.
- Choose a format such as Number, Currency, Accounting, Percentage, or Scientific.
- In Decimal places, enter how many places to display.
- Click OK.
If the value still looks rounded, the issue can also be the cell format being General. In that case, applying a number format with more decimal places can stop Excel from showing a shortened value.
If ######## appears after increasing decimals, widen the column by double-clicking the right border of the column header.
