This update is stuck in a death loop of downloading, installing and failing on my computer. Is there a way I can make it stop and not try again. Thx.

Windows Update cannot be stopped permanently, but updates can be paused temporarily.

To stop KB5129195 from retrying for now:

    1. Open Start > Settings > Windows Update.
    2. Select Pause updates for 7 days.
    3. If needed, open Advanced options and set a later resume date in Pause updates.

Then try these steps to break the download/install loop:

    1. Make sure the PC is connected to the internet.
    2. In Start > Settings > Windows Update, select Check for updates and try again.
    3. If KB5129195 still fails through Windows Update, install it manually.

For x64 devices, download these MSU files and place them in the same folder, such as C:\Packages, with no other files in that folder:

    1. windows11.0-kb5043080-x64_953449672073f8fb99badb4cc6d5d7849b9c83e8.msu
    2. windows11.0-kb5129195-x64_ed361878ec2b56a7dfdb8f256565263a7fdc8eaa.msu

    Install them either:

    • one by one in order by double-clicking each .msu, or
    • from an elevated Command Prompt:
    DISM /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:c:\packages\windows11.0-kb5129195-x64_ed361878ec2b56a7dfdb8f256565263a7fdc8eaa.msu

Or from an elevated PowerShell window:

    Add-WindowsPackage -Online -PackagePath "c:\packages\windows11.0-kb5129195-x64_ed361878ec2b56a7dfdb8f256565263a7fdc8eaa.msu"

If the required checkpoint cumulative update is already installed, Windows will indicate that it is already present.

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

I'm afraid it isn't possible to hide this specific update. Pausing updates is a good idea. Perhaps the next update, due out this month, will install correctly, rendering this one unnecessary and causing Windows to stop suggesting it. However, there is a chance the same error could occur with the next update.

I can help you try to install this update. Please clarify the following:

Do you have a third-party antivirus installed? If yes, which one?

Do you have any VPN software installed? (Even if it's not running at the moment) If yes, which one?

Are you getting an error code? If yes, which one?

If you don't get an error code, see the update history.

    • Press "Windows + I" and select "Windows Update > Update history".

If you prefer, share a screenshot. Use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

Also. What is the current "OS Build" of your Windows 11?

    • Press "Windows + R", type winver, and click OK.

If you prefer, share a screenshot.

Be sure to censor your email address if it appears. The Microsoft Q&A is public.

    Looking forward to your reply.
